How do I clean my cast iron skillet?

I have a cast iron stove with grill and a media mogul cast to go with it [for paninis]. I use it all the time but I have no idea how to clean it properly. I'm still left with residue and cheese everywhere. Is there something I need to buy?

How to Clean a Cast Iron Skillet Get Off The food stuck If you have food stuck your cookware cast, here are some ways to clean it. My aunt told me about these two ways: (1) The best thing to do is burn pan. If you have a fireplace (or oven), let the coals die down and then place the skillet in the coals. It may flame up - but it correct. Let it burn fat and foods. (BE sure to move the pan around the fire so it does not crack). If you do not poker or tool to get it out, wait until the fire is extinguished and coals are cool to remove it. Then wash all the ashes launch and return of the season the pan. Wipe with a paper towel (if you still get a brown stain on the paper towel, more salt dump and repeat the process), then wipe a thin film of olive oil in skillet. Stick the pan in a plastic bag until ready to use. -------------------------- How To Season Cast Iron Skillet Here's how: Wash pan in warm soapy water. Rinse well and dry completely. Apply a thin layer melted shortening (Crisco, for example) or vegetable oil with a rag or paper towel Solf. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the pan upside down on the oven rack above. Place foil on a cookie sheet and place on bottom rack of oven. This will catch the drippings from the pan. Bake in oven for one hour. Turn oven off. DO NOT OPEN. Allow the pan to cool in the oven (several hours). There may be a movie to your cookware, it comes after use. You have to use it a few times as a test. If your stove has burnt on food on it, here's how to get the food burned and black dots off. Tips: Clean stove after use while still hot with warm water and a scrub brush in plastic. DO not put in dishwasher or wash with soap or dishwashing detergent. Cookware cast iron to dry thoroughly after washing, then spray lightly with vegetable oil (Pam, etc.) Wipe clean and store. Never Store utensils with lid on; cookware cast iron needs movement air. Cookware Reseason after cooking beans or acidic foods (like tomatoes). Frying or cooking food content fat help speed up the process of seasoning. Do not use cookware cast iron for food storage.
